  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed Use very ripe bananas for best flavor.
  • 1/3 cup honey Can be substituted with granulated sugar.
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can be swapped for gluten-free flour blend.
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional) Adds a warm spice flavor.
  • 1/2 cup walnuts or chocolate chips (optional) Feel free to experiment with different add-ins.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 4x8 inch loaf pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, mix the mashed bananas with honey and melted butter.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Add the baking soda and salt, mixing well.
  • Gradually add the flour and mix until just incorporated.
  • If desired, fold in walnuts or chocolate chips.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.

Baking

  • Bake for 50-60 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Classis Banana Bread is delightful warm or at room temperature. Serves great with butter or cream cheese. Store in plastic wrap for up to 3 days or refrigerate for a week. For longer storage, freeze slices or the whole loaf.
