Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger minced
  • 1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil for frying

Instructions

  • Marinate: Combine chicken pieces, soy sauce, and rice vinegar. Let it marinate for 10 minutes.
  • Coat: Mix cornstarch and flour in a bowl. Toss marinated chicken in the mixture until well-coated.
  • Fry: Heat cooking oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry chicken pieces until golden brown and crispy, about 5 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • Prepare Sauce: In a separate pan, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger, sauté until fragrant. Stir in honey and water, then bring to a simmer.
  • Combine: Add fried chicken pieces to the sauce, stirring until evenly coated. Let it cook for another 3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Garnish: Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds over the chicken. Serve hot over steamed rice or alongside stir-fried vegetables.

Notes

  • For a healthier version, you can bake the chicken instead of frying.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less honey according to taste.
  • This dish pairs well with steamed broccoli or a side of jasmine rice.
